Ways to participate in a group workshop Family Constellation

A full Systemic / Family Constellation group process as first developed by Bert Hellinger offers different ways to participate which are both enriching and transformative.

Representing and witnessing at a workshop is an opportunity to expand your awareness, work directly with energy fields, support as well as collaborate with others and receive relatable insights and shifts.

Participants may be asked to represent or 'stand in' as an element in another's Constellation which could be them, someone or something else associated with the topic.  They can also support as a witnessing presence to help hold the energy and may be brought in later to represent by the facilitator.

Once placed in the workshop space (the field), the representatives are facilitated to intuitively 'feel into' and speak for what they are representing without needing to know the topic and often initially not even who or what they represent.  Most people are surprised at how easily they can do this with the help of supportive facilitation which includes simple questions and directions.

During a Constellation, representatives may become aware of different sensations, emotions or perceptions and engage in light physical activity - moving, turning, standing, sitting and even lying (if comfortable) - as well as contact and interaction with others.

At the end of the Constellation participants are facilitated to step out of representing and to ground within themselves.   As representing is a somatic or body-centred process, the nervous system may still need time to process.  Relaxing and resting after the workshop session is recommended, especially if what has been represented and witnessed is relatable.

Receiving a Constellation through group process is an opportunity to pass a challenging or stuck topic over to others with heart-centred intention for facilitated exploration and transformation in the Field.

Being a workshop client also involves a conversation (zoom or call) before the workshop date with the facilitator to clarify the topic, explore family map connections, choose initial or key representatives - self, others and / or things - and decide whether to start with these elements named or not so we let the Field speak.

Receiving a Systemic / Family Constellation does not involve bringing family members nor does it require being in contact. â€‹ The topic can be also begin as a more individual and internal one or be relationally oriented from the outset.

At the workshop the participant receiving a Constellation is supportively facilitated to intuitively choose others to represent their key elements and place each in the workshop space.  They then sit and observe the facilitated process while being regularly checked in with as hidden dynamics unfold.

As the Constellation moves towards completion or some level of resolution, they may also be invited to swap out with their representative and step into the Constellation to anchor in the experience.

A Constellation may generate significant shifts in feeling, perception and perspective or be a first piece of a more complex topic.  It will continue to process and ripple out beyond the workshop session and needs time for integration.
